Surya Vidyut Limited (SVL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the group’s flagship company CESC Limited, Kolkata, is a Company incorporated under the Companies Act 1956 having its Registered Office at CESC House, Chowringhee Square, Kolkata - 700 001.
The Board of Directors of CESC Limited (CESC) has, subject to necessary approvals, approved a Composite Scheme of Arrangement under Sections 230 to 232 and other applicable provisions of the Companies Act 2013 (“the Scheme”) involving CESC and some of its subsidiaries whereby, interalia, CESC’s generation undertaking is proposed to be demerged into separate company viz., ‘CESC Generation Limited’. In terms of the Scheme, SVL is proposed to be a subsidiary of CESC Generation Limited from the effective date mentioned in the said Scheme.
The Company is part of RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, having an asset base of over USD 6.0 billion and annual revenues of USD 3.0 billion. The group’s interest spans across six diverse business sectors, viz, Power & Natural Resources, Infrastructure, Carbon Black, Retail and Media & Entertainment and Technology.
The primary objective of the company is to develop projects in generation and sale of electrical energy through renewable energy sources, such as wind, solar, hydro power and other nonconventional energy sources. The company has an existing portfolio of 156 MW of wind power projects spread across India in the states of Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
